Christmas Show
Wednesday, November 29th, 2017Derrick Golf & Winter Club10 am to 7 pm, Banff RoomMy Christmas Show is fast approaching. I'm working on adrenalin, very little sleep and a whole lot of inspiration! I wake up each morning with plans to create truly unique pieces to be presented at this event. They are created outside of my current collections and are one of a kind. It's a great excuse for me to metal work pieces that a little more out of the ordinary and a little more colourful than my other pieces. I sift through my collection of semi-precious stones, and cut, etch and pound away at my bronze and fine silver pendants; always trying to go to places that I haven't before with my jewelry. Here are just a taste of the pieces that I will have. Come and find something truly unique for Christmas gifts and yourself! Current collections will also be at the show including a $100 Orange Avocado Jewelry Gift card draw prize, show specials, and sale items. All are welcome. -
Orange Avocado Jewelry Spring Show: Sharing

Another spring show has come and gone. While at the show a friend of mine, Michelle, commented "you must feel good about having to be able to make something and share it with everyone".
I am actually so grateful that words can't describe. I'm a little overwhelmed before, during and after each show about it all.
But I thrive on it too. It's a perfect job for me that I can't even call it a job.
It's what I do and love each day. Thank you to my friends and family that helped me out yesterday, it looked like we were going to start a race in this picture! You all worked so hard!
Thank you to everyone that came out to enjoy my new creations; with over 130 people in attendance. You bring your friends and you bring your family year after year and it's amazing to me.
And to think that it all started from a handful of beads discovered in Maui over 12 years ago.

Wednesday, May 3rd, 201710 am to 7 pm, Banff RoomDerrick Golf & Winter Club3500-119th StreetI went to bed last night with thoughts of how my silver in my kiln would turn out. I woke up this morning opening my kiln to beautiful and unique silver pendants for my "Limited Edition" collection for my upcoming show. The feeling never goes away. The anticipation of how each piece of silver and bronze will turn out and the process of creating each piece of jewelry is always exciting to me.
The Freeform Link Limited Edition jewelry shown above will be one set of many unique finds that will only be at my upcoming spring show. These fine silver links were created to emulate the freeform fine silver beads and apatite raw stones. The Apatite semi-precious stone will be featured in my Limited Edition Collections. You will fall in love with the raw cuts of this stone depicting watery tones of the sky and sea. I am drawn to all shades of blue. This stone is known to clear away apathy and negativity and enhance truth. It is a motivational stone promoting independence and creativity.

THANK YOU so much to everyone that came out to my Christmas show this year. Over 225 people attended and were taken care of by these lovely ladies and my friends: Najat, Lisa, Catherine, Jackie and Debbie including my daughter Erin and mom, Kim. These ladies worked so hard for so long for which I am very lucky for. I can't even describe the gratitude I feel towards my faithful customers and new ones that came out with their friends and family to do some Christmas shopping for themselves and others. Thank you to those that shared my Facebook posts regarding my show and spread the word. I have found that the most powerful message is the one of word of mouth.
You fulfill my dream of making jewelry one by one from me to you.

Orange Avocado Jewelry Christmas Show: Inspired Art

My Annual Christmas show is just two weeks away…and the emotions never seem to change. “Excited, anxious and inspired” are just a few words to describe what I always seem to feel so close to each of my shows.
I’m excited to reveal my latest collections: Sculpt and Luminous Collections. The “Sculpt Collection” truly represents my heart and soul. This collection is about abstract corners and lines against curves. It's a study of shape, form and texture.
I’m anxious because I have so much to do before each show. Sleepless nights, very early mornings is the norm for the next couple of weeks. My goal each year is to have a large collection of “One of a Kind” and limited edition pieces. The sculptural “Herkimer Diamond” pendant necklace will be just one of many unique pieces I will have. I have been hanging onto these roughly cut and luxurious herkimer diamonds for so many years, thinking of the most perfect way to feature them. These gems are timeless.
You see, it is the challenge of making something unique each and every time I open the door to my studio that fuels my desire to create everyday. It is what keeps me young at heart and mind.
